President’s Message

Hola and welcome Ladies of the Louisiana Conference United Women in Faith,

Although the year has not ended yet, it has been a wonderful year for me as president.  I’m thankful, grateful and blessed for the support of the leadership of our conference, district and local units.  It’s been a challenge my first year as president with disaffiliation and reorganization, but I know that God did not come this far with United Women in Faith to leave us.  We know that He is always with us.  We will boldly push forward to continue to transform the world.  Women, children, youth and mission institutions need our help and we’re not going to let them down.  We’ve come this far by faith, leaning on the Lord.  We’ve trusted in His holy word, and He’s never failed us yet.  We can’t turn around because we’ve come this far by faith.  As United Women in faith:

We are not afraid to do the right thing by reaching out to others who are different.

We have strong hearts.

We have the strength, faith and grace to change the world.

It is our responsibility to inspire others and make an impact.

We are called by God to act boldly.

We work together as a sisterhood.

We show up locally and boldly to make a difference.

We are standing up for social, climate and economic justice.

New activities are on the way.

Ladies, we’re up to the challenge!  Let’s put hope, faith and love in action.

May God bless you and keep you in the palms of his hands.

Peace, Hope, Faith, Love and Joy,

Brenda

Deaconess Brenda Thomas-Nero, President

Louisiana Conference United Women in Faith

                                                                                      President’s Report

This year, several items have been accomplished, are underway, or will be beginning soon:

  • Our new website was launched (uwfla.org) and is consistently updated.
  • An instrument drive is underway now for the North Rampart Community Center.
  • We began online registration for conference events.
  • The Facebook page is functioning well and is being kept up to date.
  • T-shirts and canvas bags are being sold to bring in revenue for our budget. An E-Store is on the horizon to display our items and to raise funds to help our budget.
  • Because of the success of our first silent auction at last year’s Annual Meeting, we are planning another silent auction for this year’s Annual Meeting. Last year’s silent auction raised $2,600.  It benefited our mission institutions.  We will continue to contribute these funds to them.
  • Offerings have been raised during our various events for our mission institutions. Other donations have been given by our local units to provide additional assistance.
  • Our UWF districts have been reorganized and we have a slate of officers for their Annual Meeting. We expect a smooth transition.
  • A delegation of us traveled to the South Central Jurisdictional Event, along with Bishop Williamston. I actually served as one of the two main photographers for the event.
  • Our Conference UWF and the North Rampart Community Center were featured in the July/August edition when General Secretary/CEO Sally Vonner stopped by for a visit in Louisiana.
  • We had a beautiful spiritual growth event in March, chaired by Doris Harry, our Spiritual Growth Coordinator.
  • We had a wonderful Mission u in July that was planned by Peggy Evans, Mission u Dean 2024, Ramona Laws, Assistant Mission u Dean and Erin Gilpin, Assistant to the Assistant Mission u Dean.

We plan to continue to strive to do God’s will.
